Deathstars:

Deathstars adapts Metallica on their 3rd album..?

After thousands of remarks, it’s worth emphazizing all the Deathstars-inspired stuff on the new Metallica-album; using the same font as in the DS-logo on their albumtitle ”Death Magnetic” (!) and then naming a song “Cyanide”. Is it just a coincidence? - It’just fun, says Whiplasher Bernadotte, vocalist in Deathstars, and continues: What can I say, it’s just as big of a coincidence and chance as if you get a hermaphrodite-child. What can you do..? You just need to smile at the little monster.

Guitarplayer Nightmare Industries continues:
It’s interesting to see how a band that made a name for themselves hating Napster and downloading practically downloads ideas from a younger and sexier band, but think positively - maybe Metallica does something that we can steal later.

(Deathstars new album is called ”Master of Muppets” and will be free to download from January 30:th)

We have been looking for something fresh; a voice with character and identity. An imitation of the former singer is the last thing we want, but this special someone also must be able to sing the classics. We take our past with us in the future.

We have received demos from many candidates from all over the world. Some of them were asked to send more material, and a few of them have been invited to Norway where we have been working with them in our studio.

It is with great relief we are announcing that this search is now over, and we will bring you more details around this soon.

He also taks about the totally information STOP after Viebkes departure and more: "Vibeke`s departure from the band obviously came as a shock to you, as it did to us when she told us she intended to leave. The fact that she didn't write you a few lines before she took off might seem strange to us all, I don't want to raise any speculations about why. It was her decision to make. But I think it was the wrong one."

Heijaste:

Debut album info and Joona’s departure
Hi Guys

Just letting you know that our first album is titled "Silta Yli Kaiken" (Bridge Over Everything, in English). The first single "Kiinni" and it'll be out later this autumn. So stay tuned for that, we'll post it in MySpace when time is right. It's going to be great.

Some sad news too. Our keyboardist Joona has decided to call it quits. After a long and thoughtful period Joona felt that being a musician simply isn't what he wants in life. We respect his decision and wish all the best for him and his family. We've seen a lot of turbulence in the local rock scene lately but this has not nothing to do with it. Joona will play the gigs until November. Due to this, he is not in the new promotional photos and will not do any interviews.

I'm happy to announce that things are coming together with the band!
After the first rehearsals it's obvious that the new group will not
only carry on the spirit and ideology that JWRA represented but also
will be able to create a much more fashionable musical experience.
We'd like to thank all the people who answered our ad for new band
members. There were some nice surprises, so hang on! This is the
beginning...The beginning for you and me.   / Jann Wilde

Within Temptation:

Beursgebouw Eindhoven sold out, new show at the Ahoy in Rotterdam!
As some of you might know, we will be playing at the Beursgebouw Eindhoven on November 24th. This show is now completely sold out, which is great news of course. We look forward to seeing you all there to experience this special evening together with us. For those of you who weren’t quick enough to get tickets we have great news. On February 7th 2008 we will be playing at the Ahoy Stadium in Rotterdam with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra!
When recording our albums, we have always worked with real orchestras. It is an important part of our sound, the dynamics and authentic sounds of an orchestra are truly unique. Therefore, we are really excited to do something like this in a live setting at the Ahoy
The Metropole Orchestra really is a big name in the international music industry. The orchestra has played with many famous artists and after we played with them a few times at award ceremonies, we came up with the idea to do a concert together.
Like our shows at the Java Island and the Beursgebouw Eindhoven, the Ahoy Stadium (pretty much thé concert hall to be in The Netherlands) will allow us to create a perfect show. Rotterdam is also easy to reach by car, train and airplane from various countries.
In short: it will be a night not to miss!

Nightwish:

Vassil Varbanov of Bulgaria's Tangra Mega Rock recently conducted an interview with NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Tangra Mega Rock: Well, it's good to have you live with us today, so let's start. Even before you joined NIGHTWISH, it was an extremely successful band with a charismatic female singer. Do you feel any pressure?

Anette Olzon: I try not to when it comes to the fact that I'm replacing Tarja, otherwise I'd be very nervous, because she's a good singer. I feel pressure on myself, because I'm a perfectionist and I wanna do my best for the fans and not let them down.

Tangra Mega Rock: Were you a NIGHTWISH fan before joining them?

Anette Olzon: No. I hadn't listened to NIGHTWISH that much. I had heard their name many times, because I fancy the metal industry, but the first time I actually listened to them was just a couple of months before everything with Tarja happened. I think this is a good thing, because now I can work with the band with clear eyes. I think the pressure upon me would have been bigger if I knew their whole history.

Tangra Mega Rock: Can we say that today you've already become friends with the guys?

Anette Olzon: I'd like to say that I am, and I hope the guys feel the same. Of course, it takes some more time to become really good friends.

Tangra Mega Rock: Obviously, you cannot escape from the comparisons between you and Tarja. Where are your strongest points, according to you?

Anette Olzon: I have a really high-pitched rock voice. I can sing very high with my natural voice, which is very powerful. I can also sing very emotionally, following the feelings of Tuomas' lyrics. I really try to give the listeners everything they want.

Tangra Mega Rock: I'm sure that through the years you've been listening to a lot of vocal performers. Who are your idols, if any?

Anette Olzon: I don't have any idols at the moment, but I used to have when I was younger. I listened a lot to Celine Dion — I think she's the ultimate female singer. And if I have to name a female singer from the contemporary metal scene, I'd say Simone Simons of EPICA and Sharon den Adel of WITHIN TEMPTATION.

Tangra Mega Rock: Let's focus on NIGHTWISH now. So far we've heard just two songs recorded with you — "Eva" and "Amaranth". Both are quite different from each other, so what should we expect from the full-length album, "Dark Passion Play"? Does it sound closer to the first or to the second single?

Anette Olzon: "Eva" is very, very far away from what the album is like. I think it's the softest song ever done by NIGHTWISH. As for "Dark Passion Play", I think this is the heaviest album NIGHTWISH have ever done. Of course, there are songs like "Amaranth" that are a bit more easy listening and radio-friendly. As a whole, it's a big mixture, yet a heavy album.

Tangra Mega Rock: What's the atmosphere within NIGHTWISH now?

Anette Olzon: Well, it's hard for me to tell how the other guys feel, but when we meet and rehearse I feel there's some confidence and that they trust me. I think after all that happened, now they can finally leave everything behind and concentrate on music again.

The entire interview is available in text and audio format at this location.

Flinch:

Ville is back!! Negative's frontman Jonne Aaron is expanding his role in the music business by producing the new record of his brother Ville's band,Flinch.
- "Jonne will produce Flinch's new album, he's been supporting Ville with all the stuff he went through last year so the choice was kind of obvious.", says the band's manager Tommi Liimatainen.
Ville's band has been through a lot of changes lately, Ville has had problems with alcohol and he's had to find a totally new lineup for the band.
- "Now it seems everything's cool and there's no alarming alcohol epidemic in the Tampere rock scene anymore", chuckles manager Liimatainen.
Duet in the works?
Tommi goes on to hint about a possible duet between Jonne and Ville:
- "Everything's possible with those guys working together. And it would be a nice surprise if that kind of thing happened, don't you think?
Flinch started the studio sessions for their new album today, the release will happen during autumn '07. The band's debut album "Kuvastin" has sold over 5000 copies to date.

July 2007

Bloodpit:

25.07.07 - Limits, explanations & excuses vol. 79345
All of Bloodpit's gigs, including the European tour at the end of the year, have been cancelled and the band retreats to a comprehensive break. Last Friday's gig at Sunset Beach Party, which lasted only two songs, proved that the mental health of the members of the group is no longer in condition required for touring. We have worked together with this line-up for almost five years, and we have been through a lot as a group, but there is only so much the human mind can take. We have been on the borderline for quite some time, the limit has been close before, and now it has finally been crossed.

The situation we have fallen into is extremely frustrating and has to be solved no matter what. We well return to the stage as a band once we, as a whole, are in a condition worthy of our audience. Should this never happen, we reckon that for us, this was it. We will post news once matters develop one way or the other. However, it is clear that the break may be prolonged for a long period of time. For all the trouble we have caused, we apologise deeply to everyone concerned and above all to our fans.

An enormous thank you to each and every one of you for all things possible, perhaps we will see each other again someday!
